By February reserves are likely to be depleted so planting early-season flowers to help our pollinators is incredibly important. For many insects it really is a life-or-death time of the year. There are very few wild, winter flowering plants in the UK so without our gardens, bees would starve.
With this in mind, our plant of the month is the
Primula Everlast
Primroses provide an ideal early food source for bees, will hugely brighten your garden when little else is in flower and are easy to plant.
It is important to plant the wild native type of primrose as other multi-coloured varieties may have little or no nourishment for bees and other wildlife. The Primrose Everlast is an improved wild primrose as it flowers for longer, however, we also have the more traditional varieties that are loved by gardeners, Primula Veris and Primula Vulgaris.
As well as bees, these wonderful plants will provide nectar for moths who will spread the pollen and help produce more seeds – a patch of primroses could easily spread so you’ll be doing your part for lots of other wildlife too.
With the Primula Everlast, you can expect long-lasting perennial colour during the dullest months of the year! A modern breeding breakthrough with unique genetics, Everlast will add a continuous flush of delicious pale-yellow flowers to your garden for an incredible 5 months, from early autumn right through to spring. Jam-packed with flowers that cover the plant, this perennial Primula packs a real punch and will delight you year after year.
Sent out in 9cm pots, your plants will be ready to plant out straight away and will provide an instant impact to any patch or will look stunning in baskets and containers. All of the plants in our range will certainly brighten up your garden this spring and attract much-loved pollinators!
